About Portico

Our approach

We believe great leadership starts with self awareness.

It’s about presence, not perfection

Perfection, as we know, is an unachievable goal. What will help you lead better, listen more, and engage others? Cultivating presence—being alert, open, and accessible—whether you’re on stage, facilitating a challenging meeting, or having a casual conversation.

Small shifts lead to
big benefits

We’ve seen it over and over again: big transformations come from the smallest shifts in thinking and day-to-day interactions. These shifts may not even be noticeable, but yield big (and sustainable) benefits.

Vulnerability is a superpower

Vulnerability builds authentic connections and fosters trust by showing the courage to be genuinely seen. When leaders risk sharing their challenges and uncertainties, it creates psychological safety and empowers others to bring their full selves to the task at hand.

Gina Morris
Portico Founder

Gina is a trainer, coach, and consultant who helps individuals and organizations achieve their full potential by improving their capacity to communicate and collaborate effectively.

She has 20+ years of experience across technology start-ups, corporations, schools and universities, nonprofits, and foundations. She served as VP of Programs for a Silicon Valley EdTech company where she managed strategic partnerships and designed initiatives to improve communications and operations.

She has worked as adjunct faculty at the University of San Francisco’s School of Education and as a curriculum and product design director at Stanford University.

Because she’s had many of the same professional and personal experiences as her clients, she’s able to get to the heart of the matter with her clients quickly. She’s also a life-long learner, combining a graduate degree in leadership from Stanford, training as a Co-Active Coach, and immersion in inquiry-based stress reduction techniques to build out her repertoire of resources

Gina earned a B.S. in Psychology from California State University, and a master’s degree in Policy, Organization, and Leadership from Stanford University. She lives with her husband and daughter in Berkeley, CA, where she can often be found hiking the local hills and happily cooking for friends and family.

“Coaching is not only what I love to do; it’s what I’ve naturally gravitated toward in every professional role I’ve had, from teacher and manager to consultant and CEO.
My professional experience, combined with my training as a coach, allows me to bring a rich perspective and a robust set of tools to the work I do with Portico.”

“Gina is a consummate professional and is compassionate in her approach to the needs of executives. Working with her, our organization has actualized our vision for our philanthropic work, making our program a true success, both for us and our beneficiaries. I greatly value and respect Gina and her work with us.”
